✍️ Selection Process & Syllabus

No Written Examination

The most important feature of both the SSC Tech and JAG Entry schemes is that there is no written examination. Candidates are shortlisted based on their academic performance and called directly for the SSB Interview. Therefore, there is no prescribed syllabus to study.

Services Selection Board (SSB) Interview

This is a comprehensive five-day personality and intelligence test designed to assess a candidate's suitability to be an officer in the Indian Army.

  • Stage I (Screening):
    • Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) Test: Verbal and non-verbal reasoning tests.
    • Picture Perception and Discussion Test (PP & DT): Candidates write a story based on a picture and then discuss it in a group.
  • Stage II (Testing):

This stage lasts for the remaining four days and is for candidates who clear Stage I.

    • Psychological Tests: Thematic Apperception Test (TAT), Word Association Test (WAT), Situation Reaction Test (SRT), and Self Description Test (SD).
    • Group Testing Officer (GTO) Tasks: Includes group discussions, group planning exercises, and command tasks.
    • Personal Interview: A detailed one-on-one interview with a senior officer.

👉 Note

  • Candidates who are recommended by the SSB undergo a thorough Medical Examination.
  • The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained by the candidate in the SSB Interview only.
