The Indian Coast Guard, an armed force of the Union, conducts recruitment for the post of Assistant Commandant in various branches like General Duty (GD), Commercial Pilot License (CPL-SSA), and Technical (Engineering & Electrical). This is an opportunity for graduates to join the officer cadre of the Coast Guard. The selection is a comprehensive multi-stage process, beginning with a Computer-Based Examination and followed by a Preliminary Selection Board (PSB) and a Final Selection Board (FSB).

📌 Eligibility Criteria

Nationality

A candidate must be a citizen of India.

Age Limit

  • General Duty (GD) and Technical Branch: 21 to 25 years.
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL-SSA) Entry: 19 to 25 years.

Age relaxation is available for reserved categories (OBC, SC/ST) as per government rules.

Educational Qualifications

  • General Duty (GD): A Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 60% marks. Must have studied Mathematics and Physics as subjects up to the 12th standard.
  • Commercial Pilot License (CPL-SSA): Passed 12th standard with 60% marks and must hold a current, valid Commercial Pilot License (CPL).
  • Technical (Engineering & Electrical): An Engineering degree with a minimum of 60% marks in a relevant discipline like Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering.

✍️ Selection Process & Syllabus

Stage-I — Computer-Based Examination

This is the initial screening test. The structure for the General Duty (GD) entry is as follows:

Marking Scheme: +4 for a correct answer, -1 for an incorrect answer.

Stage-II — Preliminary Selection Board (PSB)

Candidates who clear the online exam are called for the PSB. This includes:

  • Computerised Cognitive Battery Test (CCBT): An aptitude test.
  • Picture Perception & Discussion Test (PP & DT): A test of story writing and group discussion.

Stage-III — Final Selection Board (FSB)

Candidates who qualify the PSB are called for the FSB, a comprehensive five-day process. It includes:

  • Psychological Test: Includes TAT, WAT, and SRT.
  • Group Task: Includes group discussions, group planning exercises, and outdoor tasks.
  • Interview: A personal interview with a senior officer.

Stage-IV — Medical Examination

Candidates recommended by the FSB undergo a special medical examination at the Base Hospital, New Delhi.
