ISRO Scientist/Engineer Examination — Eligibility, Syllabus & Exam Pattern
The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) conducts its own recruitment for the post of Scientist/Engineer 'SC' to select bright and talented engineers for its various centers. It is one of the most prestigious technical jobs in the country. The selection process typically involves a Written Test designed to assess a candidate's deep understanding of their engineering discipline, followed by a final, rigorous Interview.
📌 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit
A candidate must be between 18 and 28 years old. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories (OBC, SC/ST, Ex-servicemen) as per government rules.
Educational Qualification
A candidate must have a B.E. or B.Tech degree in a relevant engineering discipline with a minimum of 65% aggregate marks or a CGPA of 6.84/10. The required disciplines commonly include:

✍️ Exam Syllabus & Pattern
1. Written Examination
The first stage is an objective-type written test that focuses entirely on the candidate's specific engineering discipline.
- Type: Objective (Multiple Choice Questions)
- Number of Questions: Approximately 80
- Duration: 90 Minutes
- Marking Scheme: Varies, but typically involves negative marking for incorrect answers.
Syllabus
There is no predefined syllabus. The questions are based on the standard curriculum of the B.E./B.Tech degree in the respective discipline. Candidates are expected to have a thorough understanding of the fundamental concepts and advanced topics covered in their undergraduate engineering program.
2. Interview
Candidates who clear the written test with high scores are shortlisted and called for a final interview. The interview panel, consisting of senior scientists and experts, assesses the candidate's subject knowledge, practical understanding, and overall suitability for a research and development role at ISRO.
