SSC General Duty (GD) Constable Examination — Eligibility, Syllabus & Exam Pattern
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) conducts the General Duty (GD) Constable examination to recruit candidates for the posts of Constable in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, SSB, as well as in the Secretariat Security Force (SSF) and Rifleman (GD) in Assam Rifles. This is a massive recruitment drive for 10th-pass candidates aspiring to serve the nation. The selection process includes a Computer-Based Examination (CBE), a Physical Efficiency Test (PET)/Physical Standard Test (PST), and a Detailed Medical Examination (DME).
📌 Eligibility Criteria
Nationality
A candidate must be a citizen of India.
Age Limit
A candidate must be between 18 and 23 years old. Age relaxation is available for reserved categories (OBC, SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen) as per government rules.
Educational Qualification
A candidate must have passed the Matriculation (10th Class) examination from a recognized Board or University.

Computer-Based Examination (CBE)
This is the first and primary stage for merit calculation. It is an objective-type test.

Syllabus for CBE
- General Intelligence & Reasoning: Includes questions on analogies, similarities and differences, spatial visualization, problem-solving, and coding-decoding.
- General Knowledge & General Awareness: Covers current events, history, geography, culture, economic scene, general polity, and scientific research.
- Elementary Mathematics: Focuses on Class 10 level topics like number systems, whole numbers, decimals, fractions, percentages, profit and loss, and mensuration.
- English / Hindi: Candidates can choose either language. This section tests basic language comprehension, vocabulary, and grammar.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST)
This stage is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
